Sir Alex Ferguson has stepped down from his role as ambassador at Manchester United - but that is not likely to stop him from being in attendance at Old Trafford this season.
Cost-cutting measures brought in by co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliff since his purchase of a minority stake in the club have seen two hundred and fifty members of staff being made redundant.

In his first eight months, he earned £2.165 million from the role. Ferguson is understood to have been told of the decision during a meeting last Monday.
