Will Mellor reveals touching tribute he pays to late dad in every Strictly performance
ok.co.ukStrictly Come Dancing star Will Mellor tragically lost his beloved dad in 2020, but he has found a way to hold him close when he’s out on the dancefloor.The former Hollyoaks actor wears a meaningful accessory that once belonged to his father every time he steps out in his sequins.
Speaking exclusively to OK!, Will said: “I wear his ring every day for every performance. I always have a little moment with it before I go on and dance.
It means he’s with me. “He gave me the confidence to go and do this. When I was a kid he was always saying, ‘You can go and do it,’ and I came from somewhere where no-one did what I wanted to do. “I was from a working class family and I grew up on a council estate, but he and my mum made me believe in my dreams.” Will’s family tragically lost his dad Bill two weeks after he was diagnosed with cancer, and the 46-year-old said the “horrible time” changed his outlook on life.
One of the reasons he signed up for Strictly was to support his mum, who's a megafan of the show, through her grief. He said: “My mum has had the worst few years ever.
