Thousands of pubs, cafés, restaurants and bars are preparing to reopen this weekend, as Boris Johnson eases lockdown to help rebuild the economy after more than three months of closures.
The Prime Minister said that pubs and restaurants, along with other businesses, will be able to reopen on 4 July with new "covid secure" measures in place. "Our principle is to trust the British public to use their common sense in the full knowledge of the risks – remembering that the more we open up, the more vigilant we will need to be," Johnson said.
