Wife 'knew husband needed help' after 'terrifying experience' at train station

Marion Hinde opened up about her personal experience of her partner Tom being diagnosed with young onset dementia as part of a campaign by the Alzheimer's Society.
For this year's Dementia Action Week, she is working with the charity to help spread the word about the importance of early diagnosis for those suffering from dementia.Marion is encouraging others to not ignore memory issues or put them down to old age and seek help over any concerns.
She explained that Tom, who is now 60, had been left unable to board his train due to his then undiagnosed dementia in 2017, the Liverpool Echo reports.The incident left Marion so concerned that she made a six-hour trip to bring him home herself, before getting the help and support her husband needed.Tom was displaying symptoms for a year and his personality was changing, he was becoming forgetful, and he kept thinking the family were moving things in the house.His diagnosis of young onset dementia at 55 only came after a crisis when he was stuck in Scotland on a work trip, unable to get on the train on his own.Marion, 54, recalled: "I think we both realised that Tom was changing – he was only 54 at the time, but his personality was becoming different, his mood was low, he was getting forgetful and verbally aggressive.
