A 75-year-old widower who said his wife tragically "died in my arms" has launched an appeal for a Christmas companion for dinner this year.
Afraid of spending the festive period alone after losing his wife of 36 years, Tony Williams has been leaving cards around the town where he lives promising "sumptuous feast, fine wines and good conversation".
Mr Williams lost his wife Jo, 75, to pancreatic cancer in May and has since struggled with the loss of "soulmate", who had died nine days after her diagnosis.
The couple had moved further south, to Alton, Hants., a year before her death to be closer to her sister. The retired physicist said: "She was the loveliest person I had ever met - she was everything.
