The widow of a factory supervisor hacked to death by two teenagers in a brutal murder confronted his killers in court, asking: "How on earth have we come to this?" Robert Wilson, 53, was struck more than 100 times with a samurai sword by Kiyran Earnshaw, 18, and 16-year-old Luke Gaukroge who passed a 20in sword between them.
At one point they tried to decapitate their helpless victim, a court heard, and today they were both jailed for life for his murder.
Earnshaw must serve a minimum of 21 years behind bars and Gaukroge will be locked up for at least 16 years. The dad-of-two's grieving widow Elaine said his death had been hard to bear because of the horrific manner in which he died.
