Wicked has been a huge success at the movie theater box office this past month and the Broadway musical is breaking records as well!

Just days after Wicked became the highest-grossing film adaptation of a Broadway musical, the stage play in New York broke records to earn the highest-grossing week in Broadway history. Keep reading to find out more… For the calendar week of December 23, 2024 to December 29, 2024, the musical grossed $5,037,392, marking the first time a Broadway show has every grossed more than $5 million in a single week.

The holiday week between Christmas and New Year’s Day is always the busiest week on Broadway and Wicked added a performance for 9 shows instead of the normal 8.

Ticket prices were also increased this week because of demand with an average ticket price of $290.61. Last year, Wicked grossed just over $4 million for the same week with 9 performances as well.
