Simon Phillip Cowell (born 7 October 1959) is an English television personality, businessman and record executive. Amanda Louise Holden (born 16 February 1971) is an English media personality, actress, television presenter, singer, and author. She has judged on the television talent show competition Britain's Got Talent since the show began its run in 2007 on ITV. As an actress, Holden played the role of Mel in Kiss Me Kate (1998–2000), Geraldine Titley in The Grimleys (1999-2001), Sarah Trevanion in Wild at Heart (2006–2008), Lizzie, the Ring Mistress, in Big Top (2009), and the title role in Thoroughly Modern Millie, for which she was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award.

Britain’s Got Talent didn’t air last year after it was axed for the first time due to the coronavirus pandemic. Simon Cowell recently opened up on the difficult decision to not go ahead with the series at the time, admitting that it was a ‘hard’ choice to make. ‘As much as I didn’t want to not make the show last year, we just couldn’t at that point, it would have been literally impossible,’ he said. ‘We had to stop it at the last moment, it was a difficult decision to make but it was the right one. ‘I think off the back of that, when we did all get back together, I think we realised how much we enjoy making the show. ‘We did miss each other, we get on and work well together. ’He added: ‘It was hard but I’ve got to be honest, because of what was happening at the time, which was the new variant had come out, I got really nervous about it. ‘We were about two or three weeks out from auditions and I just thought, “We can’t do this, the risk to everyone is too high”. ‘So, it was tough, but I knew it was the right thing to do because it wasn’t like the show was never going to come back. ‘We always knew it would come back this year and it would come round quickly, which it did. ‘I.
