The Premier League have confirmed that a foul by Erling Haaland in the build-up to Phil Foden's second-half goal in their clash at Anfield was the reason why it was disallowed.

The hosts had the better of the first 45 minutes of the Premier League clash. However, Manchester City thought they'd taken the lead after the break when Foden squeezed the ball over the line.

Jurgen Klopp and his players were furious after the goal was initially given and immediately protested to referee Anthony Taylor.

It looked as though they were angry with a challenge Haaland had made on Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson to win the ball before Foden scored.
