Why 'Law & Order' & 'SVU' Are Going on an 8 Week Hiatus After November 21 Episodes

Fans of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (aka SVU) and the original Law & Order series might not be happy with this news we’re about to share!

Tonight’s all new episodes for seasons 26 of SVU and 24 of the OG series are the Fall finales, meaning for the next few weeks, the shows will be airing reruns or other programming during its usual Thursday night timeslots.

The Mariska Hargitay and Tony Goldwyn-led TV shows do have a return date on NBC, but it’s not for several weeks. Keep reading to find out more… Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order officially won’t return with new episodes again until Thursday, January 16, 2025.

If you don’t know, it’s actually very common for TV shows to take long breaks during winter holidays. This will mark the official winter hiatus for the fan favorite programs until they return with new episodes 8 weeks from now in 2025.
