Rangers will NOT splash out a big fee to keep Fabio Silva beyond the summer. That's the verdict of former Ibrox star and current Ayr United attacker Jamie Murphy - who reckons his old club would be against putting a big outlay on the Wolves forward if they are planning on spending upwards of £5-7million on a key summer signing.
It's been revealed a deal, either permanent or on loan, is likely a non-starter. Philippe Clement snapped up the Portuguese attacker on a deal until the end of the season and he has been a regular in the Ibrox starting team as they bid to finish the season with a domestic Treble.
They trail Celtic by three points at the league summit with four games to go - including a derby showdown at Parkhead - and have a Scottish Cup Final at Hampden at the end of May against Brendan Rodgers' men still to come. However, Murphy reckons these final five games will be the last Silva plays for Rangers and fellow pundit and Celtic hero John Hartson agreed as he asked if he has done enough to merit such a big investment and if his performances have excited the fans for the big price tag.Speaking on Go Radio, Murphy explained: "Will he change his mind if he scores in the next three games and scores winner in the Old Firm game?
But no, I think he will probably go back to Wolves. He started off well and has a little bit about him but his performances haven't really been up to standard in previous weeks.
