Marcus Rashford (born 31 October 1997) is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for Premier League club Manchester United and the England national team.
A Manchester United player from the age of seven, he scored two goals on both his first-team debut against Midtjylland in the UEFA Europa League in February 2016 and his Premier League debut against Arsenal three days later.
He also scored in his first Manchester derby match, his first EFL Cup match and his first UEFA Champions League match. With United, Rashford has so far won the FA Cup, EFL Cup, FA Community Shield and UEFA Europa League.
Louis van Gaal’s time at Old Trafford is not hailed as a hugely successful one by most. After all, they did finish fourth and fifth in the Premier League during his two seasons in charge.
But many would also agree that being sacked a day after ending the club’s three-year wait for a trophy by lifting the FA Cup was also a little harsh on the Dutchman.
One thing which could not be debated though was just how good van Gaal was for United’s academy following his arrival in 2014.
In his two years at the club, van Gaal handed senior debuts to 15 academy graduates and introduced the wider footballing world to the talents of Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard.
