When will Storm Lillian end as Scotland to be blasted with 'damaging' winds and 'heavy' rain

Storm Lillian is set to ravage parts of Scotland today as the weekend is off to a rainy start. After a lively night of wet and windy weather brought on by the twelfth official storm of 2024 which has been tracking in from the Atlantic, conditions are set to clear up by Friday afternoon as the front migrates eastward.

But forecasters say we can expect another period of 'heavy' rains and "damaging winds" this morning.The Met Office has two weather warnings in place separately across the northeast and south, with the former alerting to rain while the former focuses on wind.

Forecasters say those in higher ground can expect to see the strongest winds.Dumfries and Galloway are set to see gusts of up to 65mph, possibly even reaching 80mph until 11am.

Meanwhile a rain warning for the northeast is in place until 9am, but forecasters say that downpours will last even longer.Speaking on Friday's forecast, Met Office meteorologist Clare Nassir reported: "Now the rain warning's across Dumfries and Galloway Western Borders as well as Angus and Aberdeenshire.
