The mayoral election was scheduled to take place in May 2020 but was postponed, along with a number of other local votes, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Eight candidates will be on the ballot paper alongside incumbent mayor Andy Burnham and it will be the second time the region has taken to the polls to choose a mayor.
But how long has it been since the last mayoral election in the Greater Manchester region? Mr Burnham, the Labour and Co-operative Party candidate, won the title four years ago and took office on May 8, 2017.
