The first payment of the cost of living package is set to arrive in millions of households this week. According to the government, around eight million households on means-tested benefits will automatically receive the money into their bank accounts.
The first half has been planned to be rolled out between July 14 and 31 "for most most people", Birmingham Live reports. DWP Minister David Rutley explained: "Due to the volume of people entitled to the payment, it is not possible to issue all of the Cost of Living Support Payments at the same time.
We currently expect the majority of payments to be made by the end of July, there may be potential delays for a small minority of cases due to their unique characteristics."
