In fact, as Lee pointed out in a New York Times profile, his lack of budget forced him to rely on good ol’ fashion creative filmmaking instead of millions of dollars on CGI for de-aging (looking at you, “The Irishman”).

Academy Award winner Spike Lee has released the trailer for his latest film, Da 5 Bloods, starring Chadwick Boseman.The two-and-a-half minute clip - set to the tune of Chamber Brothers 1967 hit Time Has Come Today - for the upcoming Netflix film featured plenty of footage as it is centered around the Vietnam War.In it the 42-year-old Boseman portrays Norman, a soldier touted as the'best damn soldier that ever lived.' New movie starring Chadwick Boseman will drop on Netflix

Spike Lee will now join the ranks with Martin Scorsese, Alfonso Cuarón, Noah Baumbach, and Bong Joon Ho as the latest auteur director to develop a movie for Netflix. His latest joint — the first since his Oscar-winning BlacKkKlansman — is Da 5 Bloods, which set to debut on Friday, June 12. On Monday, the streaming service released a trailer for the pic, and it looks appropriately epic.
