Nicola Sturgeon ’s announcement this afternoon that the easing of Covid-19 restrictions is likely to be pushed back for a period due to a rise in cases and hospital admissions.
Scotland had been due to move to the lowest tier – level zero – from June 28. Under current guidelines that would have allowed 2000 fans back into stadia for the big SPFL kick off on July 31.
But with no Freedom Day announcement until next week it means football chiefs have been left hanging once again as they look for clarity over when and how many fans will be allowed back in.It follows a financially crippling season of locked gates across sport.Scottish football leaders had been hoping for some form of encouragement that clubs will have good numbers of supporters.
