Noble was sent on in the 94th minute by West Ham manager David Moyes, having scored 38 penalty goals in his career, but was denied by De Gea, who secured an invaluable 2-1 win for United.
De Gea had conceded the last 40 penalties he had faced for club and country in regulation time and penalty shootouts, yet Noble failed to convert a penalty for the first time since December 2016.
