Manchester United are set to take on Rosenborg BK this afternoon in the first of their pre-season friendlies as manager Erik ten Hag looks to prove himself worthy of the Old Trafford hotseat ahead of his third campaign with the club.
The Dutchman's likely exit last season was suddenly stopped in its tracks, with the dramatic 2-1 FA Cup final win over rivals Manchester City essentially securing him another season at the helm after minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe's decision to keep the 54-year-old.
Now he's looking to improve on their eighth-place finish in the Premier League last season, and the first step will be to hit the ground running against their Norwegian opponents tonight.
However, Ten Hag will be without a number of key stars who are still working on their fitness back at Carrington.
