Queen Elizabeth II's funeral is set to take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19 September, and new monarch King Charles III has confirmed it will be a national bank holiday.

Her Majesty passed away age 96 on Thursday 8 September at Balmoral Castle and The Royal Family released a statement on 10 September confirming her funeral arrangements.

Earlier in the day, King Charles, 73, approved an order that the day of his beloved mother's upcoming funeral will be a bank holiday in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

While many presume this means they will get a day off work, new guidance from the government claims that it is up to each employer whether to give staff the day off.
