A Wetherspoon pub has defended installing a camera inside female toilets after a woman claimed it was "an invasion of privacy".

The Five Swans in Newcastle upon Tyne say the camera, which was put in as part of a £1million refurbishment, cannot into the cubicle.

Bosses say the camera is nothing to worry about, but one customer was caught off-guard when she was out with her husband, ChronicleLive reports.

The customer, who asked not to be named, feared the camera was an "invasion of privacy". "If it is on or not, it shouldn't be positioned where it was as you can see it from inside the cubicle and it just makes you feel uncomfortable," she added.
