Wetherspoon founder and boss Tim Martin has been knighted as part of the New Year honours. The outspoken businessman has been recognised for his service to hospitality and culture.
He remarked that the knighthood came as a surprise. He also paid tribute to Wetherspoon's employees and customers "who are getting the award really".
