West Side Story's Kyle Allen to star as He-Man in Masters Of The Universe, replaces Noah Centineo

Kyle Allen will trade in his dancing shoes for a pair of knee-high boots in an upcoming project.The actor, 27, starred in the most recent West Side Story adaptation, and he will soon play the classic character He-Man in a live-action Masters Of The Universe movie.Mattel and Netflix announced the news on Friday.

The film is based on the 1980s Mattel action figures which took the nation by storm at the time.It led to a number a cartoon titledHe-Man and the Masters of the Universe and a live-action film starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man which came out in 1987.

Coming off a big role: Allen recently starred in Spielberg's West Side Story adaptation (Allen pictured standing, center) Playing a cartoon legend:The new movie is based on the 1980s Mattel action figures which took the nation by storm at the time and led to a beloved cartoon (He-Man cartoon from 1983)While Allen now holds the lead role in the upcoming blockbuster film, it was once attributed to Netflix star Noah Centineo.The To All the Boys I've Loved Before star announced he would play the lead role in the film when it was a Sony and Mattel collaboration.He said he was 'very excited' to play the role during an interview on The Tonight Show in April 2019 and called it 'a really big responsibility' in an MTV News interview several months later.
