A West Lothian dad told of the heartbreaking moment he asked doctors if his baby was going to survive after being born with two rare conditions.Del Campbell and wife Alana feared the worst when their baby son Cruz had to have emergency open heart surgery twice after being born with a rare heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot.The condition means a vital valve which carries blood between the heart and lungs is either too narrow or detached.In their son’s case the valve was narrow and the newborn also had a Ventricula Septal Defect (VSD) - a hole in his heart.When Cruz was just 10-weeks-old medics told Del and Alana he would need open heart surgery to attempt to repair both defects.
