Fauldhouse boxer Reese Lynch is Commonwealth Games champion after winning his light welterweight gold medal bout in Birmingham. The 21-year-old sealed the deal thanks to a 4-1 split decision over Richarno Colin of Mauritius this afternoon.Lynch - who defeated 2018 gold medallist Junais Jonas in the quarter-final - outboxed his opponent in the first two rounds to ensure he simply needed to avoid danger in the final round to secure his gold medal. But a head clash saw a wound open up above his eye.

Thankfully, he recovered and although he lost the round, he convincingly sealed the gold medal.Speaking to Boxing Scotland after the bout, he said: "I got there and I done it the hard way.

I will be able to say that I got the gold medal the hard way for the rest of my life.“I am absolutely buzzing to be honest, I beat four Olympians to get here.

I beat some of the top boys, the Indian was amazing and had five Asian medals and World medals.“I have beat the best boys at the weight to get here, and I am happy with my performances.”Lynch becomes the third West Lothian athlete to win a medal at the Commonwealth Games after gymnast Shannon Archer won bronze in the vault and Livingston swimmer Craig Benson was part of the bronze medal winning 4x100m medley relay squad.
