Pep Guardiola was delighted to see Matheus Nunes come to the fore as he tries to navigate a Manchester City squad with just 15 fit outfield players through their next block of games.
Jeremy Doku and Jack Grealish have added to the injury list this week, meaning Guardiola is without six first-team stars ahead of a busy run that includes five games in the next 17 days.
That disappointment was put to one side on Wednesday though as fringe player Nunes picked up two assists and a goal in a rare start to back up an encouraging cameo against former club Wolves at the weekend.
City's manager acknowledged that Nunes has not had the minutes he has possibly deserved and needs his qualities as City look to get through a difficult moment in the season with so many out.
