We flew through Manchester on easyJet and Ryanair to compare the standards of the budget airlines

The unmistakeable orange and blue liveries of easyJet and Ryanair are ten a penny at Manchester Airport. The budget airlines have much in common, and are the favoured choices of many holidaymakers looking for a getaway.

Here reporter Amy Fenton writes of her experience using the airport during a half-term family holiday. In my life, I've been lucky enough to go on dozens of flights ranging from British Airways business class to the likes of the now defunct budget airline Monarch, Lancs Live reports.

today I've also been on countless short-haul flights where it can often feel as if you're about to land as soon as the plane's wheels have left the runway.
