A dog who was once too scared to even leave her crate is now living her best life. Dobby is a Havanese pooch spent the first three years of her life 'trapped' in a cage at a puppy mill before being put up for adoption.

Photos of the abused animal show the extent of her sadness, with 'hollow' and 'haunted' eyes and matted fur. In fact, her hair was so knotted her new owners had no option but to shave it all off.

Dobby also weighed just 8lb - half the size a dog of her age and breed should normally weigh. "She started venturing out when there was no one in the room, but would scurry back as soon as she saw me." However, Dobby is now thriving and has grown back her fur and appetite. "She's not a lapdog and may never be, but you've never seen a happier creature," the owners added. "She gets the zoomies every day.

Her older 'brother' (an 18lb Coton) is still teaching her the finer points of being a dog, and we're looking for many more wonderful months between now and her first anniversary with us." Dozens of dog lovers flocked to the comments section to hail her new found freedom. "A great glow up, cutie!," one person raved.
