The 34-year-old is said to have been taking a stroll with two of his children when he stumbled across Walker, who was in the company of his his ex Annie Kilner and their three young children.
The Manchester City defender had already been in the news for his failure to adhere with government instructions earlier in the week, later issuing a grovelling apology on social media.
Although both Rooney and Walker had met by accident and could have been taking part in their one exercise for the day, they were ordered to go home separately.
