Images of the Derby County manager seemingly asleep on a chair in a hotel room while the women posed with him have been widely shared on WhatsApp and social media.
Married Rooney, 35, is understood to have contacted Greater Manchester Police after the images were shared, reportedly concerned he had been "set up".
He partied with model Tayler Ryan and her friends Elise Melvin and Brooke Morgan, all 21, after reportedly inviting them to the VIP section at Chinawhite club in Manchester on Saturday night.
