Over the past few years, The Kiffness’ Dave Scott has been open and bold in the fact that the Southern African Music Rights Organisation has not been paying artists the royalties they deserve and that the SABC owes the collecting firm millions for music played on their stations.
In fact, Dave has asked the SABC to refrain from playing any of his music until they start paying these royalties. Dave opened up to Carte Blanche’s Derek Watts about the struggles he has faced as an artist over the past few years and opens up about his brave battle, why it’s important for him to make such a big noise about these issues and his hope to inspire other artists to jump on the bandwagon and demand that they get paid what they are owed.
