FAMILIES can look forward to a thrilling high-octane day out at the Scottish Festival of Motoring this year. That’s because the star of the show will be the Flyin’ Fyfer drag-racing car – making a very rare appearance on home soil.
Based on a Ford Anglia, it will be unleashed on the track at the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston, Edinburgh, on Sunday, July 17.Owner and experienced racer Colin Millar will demonstrate this incredible machine’s capabilities in exhibition runs throughout the day.
Visitors to the major automotive event, partnered by Road Safety Scotland, will also be able to get up close and personal with the dragster and the team who run it while it is on display between performances.
Aside from its distinctive fiery paintwork, the insane stats for the Flyin’ Fyfer make it an enthralling prospect to watch.Powered by a roaring 11-litre Chevrolet V8 engine producing 2050bhp, it takes just 0.8 seconds to hit 60mph and has a recorded finishing-line time just shy of 195mph.Scottish Festival of Motoring organisers say the car is so blisteringly quick that it has to be seen to be believed.
