The live action, photo-realistically animated remake of The Lion King that was released in 2019 is now considered the highest grossing animated movie of all time, so it comes as no surprise that Disney has made a follow-up, and this one not only features the return of Beyonce as the voice of lion Nala, but also has her and Jay-Z’s daughter Blue Ivy providing the vocals for Princess Kiara, the daughter of Simba and Nala.

Both a prequel and a sequel to The Lion King, the new movie is called Mufasa: The Lion King and has mandrill Rafiki telling young Kiara the story of her grandfather Mufasa, who became king of the Pride Lands and father to Simba, and his relationship with his adoptive brother Taka, who would later become known as Scar.Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka, the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny and their bonds are tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe.
