Warning issued over viral passport trend that may cause airport delays

For adults in the UK, that dreaded time rolls around every 10 years - when your passport expires and you need to get a new one, with a picture to go along with it.Many of us will have simply accepted by now that it's impossible to look good in your passport picture, as there are so many rules and regulations that must be followed.

However, recent trends on social media have seen people making themselves up for their passport photos. And whilst it means they’re less mortified by their ID image, it could in fact mean extra checks at passport control.

Holiday provider, Travel Republic, has delved into some of these trends, with the experts offering key advice to make sure you don't face any lengthy delays whilst on holiday - which can really dampen the vibe of your trip.

For example one TikTokker, @bethgould_, has recently shared a video explaining that because the passport machines didn’t recognise her photo as resembling her current look, she had to go through extra ID verification checks with airport staff.
