Walton Goggins Reveals He Was Bitten During That ‘White Lotus’ Snake Scene

last night to promote both The Righteous Gemstones and The White Lotus. But while both are currently airing on HBO right now, only on one of them did he get bit by a snake.

Prefacing before telling the story that he was deathly afraid of snakes, Goggins revealed that during the filming of last Sunday’s White Lotus episode, titled “The Meaning of Dreams,” he was bit during a scene in which his character Rick Hatchett was releasing snakes from a snake farm.

In the scene, one bit Rick’s girlfriend Chelsea (played by Aimee Lou Wood). In real life, it was Goggins who was bit when a real-life snake he was trying to coax from a cage during the scene turned around and bit him. “I haven’t told that story, to anybody,” he told Kimmel. “I wish I coulda been cool — you know, like I fancy myself a pretty cool guy, like, ‘Hey yeah, I got a snake bite.’ This was my reaction, I swear to God: ‘OH MY GOD I’VE BEEN BIT BY A SNAKE!
