Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
Walter Smith will return to the Govan club for a special appearance on Rangers TV. Kilmarnock travel to Glasgow to face Steven Gerrard's side on Saturday and as with all closed-door games in the Scottish Premiership, season ticket holders and pay-per-view customers will be able to watch live.
The Ibrox icon managed Rangers over two spells and he will be keeping a keen eye on current boss Gerrard as part of the club's broadcasting team this weekend.
Smith won 10 Scottish titles at the Light Blues, including seven of the club's Nine In A Row run in the 1990s.He also scooped five Scottish Cups and six Scottish League Cups, as well as leading the club all the way to the UEFA Cup final in 2008, where they were defeated by Zenit St.
