assaulted a woman he knew. Gary Grimes, 39, attacked Andrew Wingate in a pub in Lennoxtown, Dunbartonshire. When police arrived at the scene, he told them: “I have just slashed a guy who raped a woman I know.” The victim needed surgery for a number of serious facial wounds and was left scarred for life, the High Court in Glasgow heard.First offender Grimes worked at HMP Low Moss in Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow, at the time.He now faces a lengthy jail term after he pled guilty to assaulting Andrew to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement and to the danger of his life.Grimes had originally faced an attempted murder charge.
