Viggo Mortensen Talks Returning to 'Lord of the Rings' Franchise, His Relationship With Costars

The 65-year-old star famously played Aragorn alongside Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen and more stars in the original trilogy of movies.
He revealed how well the cast did at keeping in touch, recalling one of the last times that they all communicated. Viggo even weighed in on reprising his role in a future LotR movie and revealed a surprising way that he repurposed one of his props from the franchise. Keep reading to find out more… While on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham, Viggo explained that the cast does make an effort to maintain contact all these years later. “I think the other guys, which are much more social media savvy than I am, they may have more things, and I know they go to conventions and do lots of things involved in that universe, but we stay in touch,” he said. “We just lost one of our best friends, Bernard Hill, who played King Théoden, who appears first and the second and the third.
Great actor, really good friend. And we all communicated about him. That’s been our most recent communication. So several of us do stay in touch.
