EXCLUSIVE: Vertical has acquired U.S. rights to the fantasy pic In the Lost Lands, reuniting Resident Evil filmmaker Paul W.S.
Anderson and star Milla Jovovich, from Constantin Film. Based on a short story by Game of Thrones‘ George R.R. Martin, the film also stars Dave Bautista of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.
It’ll be be released exclusively in theaters early next year. The story centers on a queen who, desperate to fulfill her love, makes a daring play: she sends the powerful and feared sorceress Gray Alys (Jovovich) to the ghostly wilderness of the Lost Lands in search of a magical power, where the sorceress and her guide, the drifter Boyce (Bautista), must outwit and outfight man and demon… Constantin Werner penned the script from a story written with Anderson.
The film’s producers include Anderson, Jeremy Bolt, Jovovich, Bautista, Werner, Jonathan Meisner, and Robert Kulzer. The executive producers are Martin Moszkowicz, Nico Bruinsma, Kirk D’Amico, and Kevin Forester, and the executive in charge of production was Richard Wright.
