Vanessa Bryant, 38, posted a long message on her Instagram Story on April 19 about Kobe Bryant’s Nike contract expiring, and her decision to not renew it.

Vanessa was open about the fact that this was not what she wanted. Kobe’s wife wanted to forge a “lifelong partnership” with the brand to honor the NBA legend’s legacy. “Kobe’s Nike contract expired on 4/13/21,” Vanessa started out her message. “Kobe and Nike have made some of the most beautiful basketball shoes of all time, worn and adored by fans and athletes in sports across the globe.

It seems fitting that more NBA players wear my husband’s product more than any other signature shoe. My hope will always be to allow Kobe’s fans to get and wear his products.
