Vandal blow for celebrity chef as Bridge of Allan eatery sees planters smashed up

The re-opening of a celebrity chef’s restaurant in Bridge of Allan was dealt a blow this week after outdoor planters were vandalised.Nick Nairn’s venture in Henderson Street is set to throw open its doors following a devastating fire at the premises in August 2021.The blaze forced the restaurant to be entirely gutted and replaced - with the impact of Covid and flooding in the town also creating hurdles for the re-opening date of the popular eating-out spot.In an update earlier this month, Mr Nairn said that hopes were for the Henderson Street restaurant to have its grand opening today (July 26).However, early on Tuesday morning, the chef released pictures showing the damage to the outdoor planters caused over the course of Monday evening.In a statement on his Facebook page, he said: “We’ve worked our socks off over the last few weeks to get ready to reopen.“Can’t tell you how disappointed we are to find this today.

Come on Bridge of Allan, surely we’re better than this?“Not only did we invest in beautiful outdoor planters, thankfully CCTV too.“Final push for re-opening, let’s hope it’s an isolated incident, time will tell.”The aftermath of the fire at the restaurant in 2021 saw Mr Nairn praise the “humbling” response of locals, including various fundraising efforts designed to support the staff - with one organised by the Meadowpark restaurant raising more than £2,000.
