Amanda Louise Holden (born 16 February 1971) is an English media personality, actress, television presenter, singer, and author. She has judged on the television talent show competition Britain's Got Talent since the show began its run in 2007 on ITV. As an actress, Holden played the role of Mel in Kiss Me Kate (1998–2000), Geraldine Titley in The Grimleys (1999-2001), Sarah Trevanion in Wild at Heart (2006–2008), Lizzie, the Ring Mistress, in Big Top (2009), and the title role in Thoroughly Modern Millie, for which she was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award.

US records a coronavirus death every minute in heartbreaking day as cases surge

One person in the United States died about every minute from Covid-19 in one day as the national death toll surpassed 150,000 - the highest in the world.

This total is three times that of the UK's coronavirus death toll. The US recorded 1,461 new deaths on Wednesday, the biggest one-day increase since 1,484 on May 27, according to data.

The country's coronavirus deaths are rising at their fastest rate in two months and have increased by 10,000 in the past 11 days.

Nationally, Covid-19 deaths have risen for three weeks in a row while the number of new cases week-over-week recently fell for the first time since June.
