Brits are bracing for torrential rain today as the Met Office warns of a 'danger to life' in some areas and a barrage set to batter the country.
Swathes of the UK are set to be swamped with a torrential downpour over the next two days, sparking warnings of floods and transport chaos.
Forecasters said that in the worst affected regions as much as four inches (120mm) of rain could fall in less than two days.
There are also expected to be strong winds alongside the 'persistent heavy rain.' A slew of severe weather warnings, both yellow and amber, are in place for Scotland, Northern Ireland, North Wales and part of northern England.
