Only dustings of snow have fallen so far this autumn in Scotland and North Yorkshire. But now northern England is forecast for snow more widely, with hills most at risk, and even the South is threatened by flurries. “Pants weather ” was forecast by ex-BBC weatherman Michael Fish.
And BBC weather forecaster Louise Lear has warned that winter showers are likely to leave high grounds coated in snow in the coming week – while wet and windy weather will hammer the rest of the country.
