New Year's Eve revellers might want to brace themselves, as 60mph winds could hit the UK just in time for the 2025 celebrations.

According to weather forecast maps from WXCharts, a storm system may engulf the country from December 31 into January 1, possibly putting a damper on some festive plans.

Weather expert Jim Dale, Senior Meteorological Consultant at British Weather Services, shared insights with Express.co.uk about the potential upcoming storm, noting that while New Year is quite some time away, there were hints of tumultuous conditions brewing.

He explained: "This New Year's Eve, a low pressure looks likely to be crossing the UK, and it looks like it could be a 'double-barrelled' one with two areas of low pressure, but we'll see." He added: "If it comes across it would pull in the north-west northerly winds after the event, but also quite strong southerly winds ahead of it as well, so it's a proper Atlantic storm potentially," reports the Express.
