UK households are being warned over a little-known fine that could cost you up to £5,000 this Christmas. As the festive season fast approaches, many people will now be preparing for the celebrations by putting their decorations up.

Whilst bright outdoor lights and festive displays often appear to be innocent, an expert has now said that they could result in you being hit with a hefty bill if certain rules are not followed.

HCB Solicitors has now shared key advice for households celebrating the festive period, warning that certain decorations could even result in legal action. Under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, a statutory light nuisance claim can be made if artificial lighting interferes with another household’s use or enjoyment of their home.
