Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson Hon FRIBA (born 19 June 1964) is a British politician, writer, and former journalist serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since 2019. He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

UK hospital Covid deaths up by 104 in lowest Monday rise in over four months

A further 104 coronavirus deaths have been recorded in UK hospitals. England has declared 101 fatalities, compared with one in Scotland, none in Wales and two in Northern Ireland.

By way of comparison, last Monday 131 people died of coronavirus in UK hospitals, compared to 191 the week before. The last time deaths were lower on a Monday was on October 26, when the toll was at 103.

It comes as schools fully reopen in England today, with Boris Johnson set to address the nation in a press conference at 4pm today.

This is the first stage of the Prime Minister's lockdown exit plan, with non-essential shops set to open their doors in mid-April before pubs and restaurants fully reopen a month later.
