The UK's coronavirus death toll has risen by 1,245 - but there is a very small trend downward week-on-week. The figure tallies all fatalities reported across all settings including hospitals, care homes, and the wider community in the 24 hours to Friday.

The official toll was published later than usual this evening, and included 1,124 deaths in England, 70 in Scotland, 29 in Wales, and 22 in Northern Ireland.

It follows 1,401 deaths reported last Friday, and 1,280 on the same day the previous week. It brings the UK's total death toll for the entire pandemic to 104,371.

Infection figures released earlier showed 29,079 new positive cases were reported in the past day. But that increase is down almost 30% from last week.
