The UK's coronavirus death toll has risen to 58,030 after a further 479 lives were claimed by the disease. The tragic figure was released by the Department of Health on a day thousands of Covid deniers march through central London protesting against lockdowns.
A further 15,871 lab-confirmed cases were reported in 24 hours - a 20% fall in the past seven days, while more than 10,000 people with Covid-19 have been admitted to hospital since last Saturday.
A week ago there were 340 confirmed deaths, while a fortnight ago that figure was 462. A month ago, on October 28, the death toll rose by 310.
Earlier today health authorities confirmed 370 Covid-19 patients had died in UK hospitals. Of these casualties, 289 were in England, 44 in Scotland,
