The UK's official coronavirus death count has increased by 341 today in the smallest Saturday rise this month. It is far lower than yesterday's 511 new deaths and also down on the 462 fatalities announced last Saturday and the 413 declared on November 7.

A further 19,875 new cases were recorded today, although there are signs infections are 'flattening' across the UK. The R number, which measures how fast coronavirus is spreading in the UK, is now almost down to 1.

SAGE said the number across the UK is between 1.0 and 1.1, down from 1.0-1.2 last week. That means every 10 people with Covid-19 pass the virus to 10 or 11 others on average.
